Financial Aid Programs

  • Apply using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or apply online at Federal Student Aid. Great Plains federal school code is 010717.

  • Calculated once student is attending class. Information from Pell application is used.

  • Applied for by completing the FAFSA. The most neediest students in the Practical Nurse and Surgical Tech programs are awarded.

  • Dr. Tom Thomas CU Tuition Waiver Scholarship

    ($500 per semester for a total of $1,000)
    Students must be currently enrolled in a Great Plains Technology Center Program and be planning to attend Cameron University full-time in the fall. Successful applicants must meet admission standards for Cameron University. Applications are due in the Spring of each year.

    Pre-Engineering Cameron University Tuition Waiver Scholarship

    ($500 per semester for a total of $1,000)
    Students must be currently enrolled in a Great Plains Technology Center Program and be planning to attend Cameron University full-time in the fall. Successful applicants must meet admission standards for Cameron University. Applications are due in the Spring of each year.

  • The scholarship is a one-time tuition scholarship.  The scholarship is good for ONE Full Time Program Tuition. The scholarship is good for 1 year from the date of High School Graduation. If you are selected as a Scholarship Winner, it is for tuition only and can be applied towards ONE Full-Time Program.

    The application period has passed for the Spring 2026.
    Please check back in the January 2027 for the next application.

    The Scholarship Committee will meet shortly after the deadline to determine the winners of the scholarship and will present winners at the Senior Award Ceremony at your High School.

  • The Great Plains Technology Center Foundation Scholarship, Inc. was formed in 1980.  The primary reason for forming the Foundation was to assist students with tuition to attend Great Plains Technology Center.  Currently, there are 20 members on the board of trustees who volunteer time and money to the Foundation.  Funds are donated by local business, citizens, employees’ of Great Plains Technology Center, and other Foundations such as the McMahon Foundation.


    Scholarship is for our Short Term/Continuing Education (CE) Classes

    FAFSA Application is required to determine need-based portion of the scholarship

    If you are approved for this scholarship, the amount will vary from 25% to 50% of the tuition only

    30 days prior to class begin date for Short Term/Continuing Education (CE) Classes

  • Full-time, one year tuition scholarship for a student enrolled in full-time Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Program.

  • Full-time, one year tuition scholarship for a student enrolled in any full-time Great Plains Career Program. Financially needs based—documentation required.

  • These full-time one year scholarships are for graduates of Great Plains SCORE program who continue their adult education in a full-time career program at Great Plains.
